The Aquarius new moon- the lunar new year, the first moon of 2025.
Many countries, more specifically, east Asian countries including China, South Korea, Vietnam and a few others, celebrate this as the new year.
It is a time when the sky and ground are shifting, the light is coming back from under the horizon- we are only just a few days from Imbolc (Feb 1-2) a marked passage of time by cultures of the British Isle (Ireland, Scotland, etc.) that celebrates the same thing- the sun’s return- there are many other cultures who have a version of their own of this same regard.
This lunar new year is brought in by the archetype of the snake with the main theme of transformation.
Be who you are and let it change and shift as it unveils itself. Continue towards that innovation you have been trying to create AND shift with the turns of the tide. Don’t stubbornly grip forward to an idea for it could have to morph in order for it to actually work out.
We transform, we shed, we change and we outgrow.
That is a part of evolution and of life.
If we stop growing, we die- point blank.
And right now, is a point where we are being urged to move along.
So, with this new moon can we ask ourselves what is inhibiting our growth? Where do we need to lean into innovation so that we can better fit our vision?
We all have access to a vision that we have for both ourselves and the greater world and what I’d like to point out is that we cannot have one without the other. The energy of Aquarius, the water-barer- the barer of wisdom, innovation and charity, is great at pointing that out within its archetype. You cannot have a greater society and community without being a direct part of it and it doesn’t always mean that you are out changing laws in an office somewhere, though you can certainly be changing laws, the belief that we are actually capable of that, especially together has been brought to the front door as much more than just an idea now.
If we are going to change anything we need to pay attention.
We have so much information with Jupiter in Gemini heightening this it is an Aquarian theme- what are we going to do with this information, how do we sort through it all and how do we monitor and create systems for ourselves so that we still get information but are not overloaded and overstimulated? We cannot contribute (which is really the MAIN thing we are being asked to do now) if we cannot focus.
We have to take control of OUR OWN INTERNAL systems (Aquarius is related to systems and organizations) before we can make impact on the outer ones, and we have to really get started on managing them now by learning first about ourselves and what we need to be well enough to show up outside of ourselves. And doing self-exploration and healing and all those wonderful things takes time, possibly a lifetime so they have to be done in tandem with being part of the community.
So, start now, invest in the importance of finding your people and start giving back where you can, where your services are well-received. In Aquarius’ highest expression we lean into a community in-person, person to person and come together in charity and innovation, finding new ways to do things, we are problem solvers and together can solve greater problems.
We need to be vulnerable to others so that we can form connection. We need to protect each other to have each other’s backs so the work can get done.
With this new moon we can lean into a new vision and start paving a new way-
Start with you, give yourself some attention, with the moon trine Jupiter in Gemini get curious about yourself AND your community. Ask a ton of questions both about you and about what the community needs. And don’t wait, how can you help today? NOW! Stop scrolling no one is coming to hold your thumb back from swiping- that’s on you, you are YOUR AUTHORITY.
With Pisces soon ending its reign in Neptune and Saturn in Pisces reality is here knocking at your door and it wants to speak to your soul. “Are you there?” Saturn, the great keeper of time, is here and he is asking you come out.
Now is a time to focus- on where you feel supported and where you are needed. With that I wish you all a joyous and healthy lunar new year.
